High Sensitivity Optical Receiver Design and Implementation for IFF

본 논문은 PIN-PD를 사용하여 500㎻ 수신감도를 가지는 피아식별용 수신기 설계 방안을 제안하며, 구현 및 측정 후 성능을 검증하는 일련의 과정을 제시한다. 수신기는 검출기(PIN-PD), 증폭기, 비교기, 펄스 폭 조절기, MCU로 구성되며, 광송신기로부터 펄스열로 구성된 질문 데이터를 수신하여 신호 수신 여부 판별 제어부로 전달하는 역할을 한다. 펄스열은 약 1㎳ 주기, 10㎱의 펄스폭을 신호로 탐지 증폭하고, 디지털 데이터로 가공하여 전달한다. 신호의 판별은 크기와 관계없이 비교기에서 임계 전압 이상 시 정상 수신한 것으로 판별하므로 증폭부에서는 이득 조절을 위한 스위칭 회로가 필요없고, 회로의 안전성(Stability) 문제도 줄어드는 장점이 있다. 또한, 여부만 판별하면 되므로 소모전력이 큰 ADC 대신 비교기 하나만 전력 소모, 기판 크기 측면에서 장점을 가진다. 결과 500㎻, BER 0.15 (수신률 85%)의 것을 입증하였다.
